Some of the tips that you can follow to reduce your allergy symptoms during the season of exposure to pollens and spores are as follows:

Keep the windows closed at night to prevent pollen and spores from entering your living environment

If necessary, use the air conditioning system that creates clean, cold and dry air.

Minimize your morning activity in the open space, because the dispersion of pollens is at its highest between 5 and 10 am.

Keep your car windows closed during the trip.

Try not to leave the house when the dispersion of pollen in the air is high and also on windy and dusty days.

When there is a lot of pollen in the air, try to take a vacation and go to a pollen-free area.

Use appropriate medicines under the supervision of a doctor.

Do not use more anti-allergy medications than prescribed by your doctor.

Do not stand near freshly cut grass and avoid cutting the grass.

Avoid collecting dry leaves.

Do not grow too many plants inside your house, as they may cause fungus and mold to accumulate in the house.

It is better to use an air conditioning system equipped with HEPA filters (filters with high absorption power) to air the house.

Note that these filters must be replaced regularly.

People with allergies and asthma should avoid irritants in the air such as cigarette smoke, paint, cleaning products, sprays, cologne and other strong smells.

Be careful how long you stay outside. Pollens are definitely present in nature. But you can plan that your activities (walking – exercise…) will be done during the hours when the pollen will disturb you the least.

(Be at home during the hours when pollen is most active, such as early morning and evening)

Wash your hair before going to sleep. This will prevent pollens from outside from entering your bed and you will not inhale them while sleeping.

Do not dry your clothes outside the rooms (outdoors).

Avoid gardening.

While driving, make sure that the car windows are up and closed and install a pollen filter in the car.

Avoid activities that cause excessive irritation of the mucous membrane. For example: eye make-up, use of dry-cleaning foams and foams, cigarette vapors, cooking smoke (frying smell) and…

Take your vacation to the mountains or the seaside.

Don’t forget that pollen allergies (plant allergens) can be triggered by eating certain foods and cause the same symptoms as plant allergies.

Allergy with pollens:

Pollens (allergens) can cause these symptoms in different body systems:

Nose : Sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, swelling of the nasal mucosa, with symptoms of nasal obstruction and difficulty breathing.

Eyes : itching, redness, watering, swelling (conjunctivitis)

Respiratory system : cough, inflammation with (bronchitis), acute respiratory problems and asthma.

Skin : itching, skin rashes (eczema, urticaria, neurodermatitis).

Digestive system : bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain.

Head : Migraine.

Mechanism:

Pollen allergy: Allergy is caused by breathing pollen in the air.

Classification:

At certain times of the year, they have a peak of activity when they first pollinate and then the leaves come out.

A) Early Bloomer:

1- Early spring: (in some areas it starts from Bahman or March).

2- Spring to summer: (during spring pollination of Birch, Red Beech and grasses)

3- Summer pollination: (grass and grains)

b) Late Bloomer (delayed pollination):

They pollinate at the end of their life cycle.

1- Late summer: (Mugwort)

2-Early to mid autumn: (Stinging Nettle)

As a rule, the pollination period is between December and October.

How can you reduce pollen allergies?

During the pollination period of plants, the emission of plant pollen is high during the day, especially in the early evening. Mountain and sea areas have less allergens. Rainy or cloudy weather reduces the amount of allergens.

Allergy treatment with pollens

1- Symptomatic treatment : drugs such as drops, pills, injections, etc. may be needed. For example, drugs are prescribed depending on the location, type, shape and severity of allergy symptoms. These can reduce or turn off the allergy symptoms, but only when the drugs are used, these symptoms are silent, if the drug is stopped, the symptoms start again, which means it is necessary, but not enough.

2- Immunotherapy or vaccine therapy to reduce sensitivity.

1- Vaccination therapy is provided regularly to enable your body to cope with and tolerate pollens and reduce allergy symptoms.

2- This is the only way to treat allergies that changes the response of your immune system to pollens. Immunotherapy works on the root cause of your illness and can either eliminate or reduce allergy symptoms.

3-Immunotherapy is provided in two forms, injection or sublingual drops.

Immunotherapy that is done for you; It is done with the same allergies that you have been allergic to (the same allergens that made you sick).

The duration of vaccine treatment is at least 3 years. which can be presented in two ways. Or you inject before the allergy season. or should be injected throughout the year.

Allergy to pollens is a disease that must be taken seriously. If the vaccine treatment is started at the very beginning of the allergy symptoms, the result of the treatment to completely eliminate this allergy is much higher.

Allergens of these foods can cause symptoms similar to allergies with some pollens. For example, if someone who is allergic to grass eats raw tomatoes or kiwi, his body will show the same symptoms of grass allergy.

Birch weed

Tomatoes – Apples – Peaches – Food – Cherries – Kiwi and some nuts
Mugwort weed Raw tomatoes, a little kiwi, a little nuts
grass Raw tomatoes, kiwi, a little onion, cereals, apples, peaches, cherries and kiwi.

Recommendation

In general, it is recommended that people who are allergic to weed and grass should be more careful about foods and avoid eating them if allergy symptoms appear after eating these foods.

Allergy to pollens also causes them to react when they encounter other pollens.

For example, some weeds have this relationship with some trees. Trees like oak sparrow tongue, hazel tree and sunflower…
